This could be my sister and me,

taking a long walk on the beach in Lavika?

Lavika is a little nice place near Mosjøen,

where my sister and her family have a neat cottage.

Just where the ladies at the picture are passing,

we often make grill-food until sunset.

Afterwards we spend the time in the cottage,

Playing games or only talk about good old days.

Talk about the time when we were children

and grew up at a farm named Kjærstadbakk,

At the farm which was bought of our great great grandfather,

Jakob Gabriel Johnsson about 1860.

He had two sons and two daughters.

One of the sons was our great grandfather Johan Sander

His two sisters were Marie and Lovise

Both of them emigrated to USA about 1880.

Marie's descendants are among others, Richard and Glenn,

whom you can read about at one of my other sites.

There are hundreds of Kjerstad's in USA, mostly in South Dakota,

descendants of Jakob Gabriel Johnsson,

here in Norway is only a few, which means five persons at our generation.
Johan Sander Jakobsen was married to Pauline Turmo

who came from Turmoen in Grane.

She was daughter to Ole Christian Olson.

Ole Christian Olson had 9 brothers and sisters,

one of them was Andreas Olson.

One of his sons was Olaf Turmo, who emigrated to USA.

Ä great grandchild of him is Francis Turmo,

from which I have got a lot of family-information.

His homepage (you will find a link to it at one of these sites)
brought me in contact with him autumn 2001.

We also think about our grandmother, Nora Kristine,

who spent her earlier youth in Iowa, USA.

Later married to Didrik Reinfjell,

who came from Lurøy, and was a son of Ole and Olianna Olsen.

Didrik had nine brothers and sisters.

To take a look at the family-data, please contact me

to get the required "family-kin"-file.

Nora Kristine Pedersen was daughter of Elette and Helmer Pedersen.

Helmer Pedersen was a son of Peder Halvorsen,-

born in Sweden, sattled in Saxen, Nord-Trøndelag.

Helmer Pedersen had one sister and five brothers.

The brothers we don't know anything about - yet.

Nora Kristine, my grandmother, lost her life only thirty years old, in breast cancer,

at a time when our mother only was 2 months old.

We think about Nora's brother, Birger Pedersen,

who also emigrated to USA,

- his daughter, Anita, whom we never have heard about,

nor don't know where she lives - and if she still is alive.

We don't know anybody who have heard from Birger

since he left in 1910(?).

Our mother thinks he sattled in Ohio (?).

We think about our mother Norveig Dorthea,

who lost her mother and even grandmother, Elette,

who also died very young.

My mother has, as you understand, not seen even her mother or grandmother.

Now, when our dear mother is growing old,

she has a need to try to find out so much as possible about them.

The only thing my mother has, is a little picture of her mother,

a picture of a beautiful woman with warm eyes.

And - we also think about our paternal grandmother, Olga,

who came from Øyen, a great farm near Mosjøen.

She was daughter to Dorthea Olsdatter and Johan Berg Andreassen.

She had seven brothers and sisters....

One of her nephews was Trond Øyen, a great violinist

permanently employed to Oslo Filharmoniske orkester.

(He is mentioned in one of the dictonaries...)

Another nephew is Ørjar Øyen, - professor by the University of Bergen,

- at a time headmaster - also mentioned in dictonary)

Nephew was also Tordis Beate Øyen,

gen-research officer by Biologisk Institutt of Oslo

(also manager for many years),

at a time had a research stay at the University of Wiscounsin.
